Ingredients

1 package (1 lb) ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 package (17.3 oz) puff pastry sheets (contains 2 sheets)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Sesame seeds (for topping)

Optional: pickles, lettuce, and ketchup for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, which will prevent the pastries from sticking.

Cook the Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Make sure to drain any excess fat from the skillet.

Season the Mixture: Once the beef is browned, stir in the Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to ensure the seasoning is well incorporated. Remove the skillet from heat and allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes.

Add Cheese: When the beef mixture is cool enough to handle, fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until it is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets. Cut each sheet into 3-inch squares, resulting in 12 squares from each sheet, for a total of 24 squares.

Fill the Pastries: Take about 1 tablespoon of the beef and cheese mixture and place it in the center of each pastry square. Be cautious not to overfill, as this may cause leaks while baking.

Seal the Pastries: Fold the corners of each pastry square over the filling to create a pocket or triangular shape. Use a fork to press the edges firmly, ensuring they are sealed completely.

Egg Wash and Sprinkle: Arrange the filled pastries on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top of each pastry with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish, and sprinkle sesame seeds generously over the tops.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.

Serve and Enjoy: Once baked, remove the pastries from the oven and allow them to cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving. These delightful Mini Cheeseburger Puff Pastries can be enjoyed as-is or with optional toppings like pickles, lettuce, and a side of ketchup for added flavor.
