Ingredients

1 medium ripe cantaloupe (or honeydew)

8 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto

1 cup fresh basil leaves, washed and dried

2 tablespoons balsamic glaze

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

12 wooden skewers (6-inch size)

Instructions

Prepare the Melon: Begin by halving the cantaloupe (or honeydew) and removing the seeds with a spoon. Use a melon baller for perfectly round bite-sized balls, or use a sharp knife to cut the flesh into 1-inch cubes. Aim for about 24 to 30 pieces.

Slice the Prosciutto: Lay the thin slices of prosciutto flat on a clean cutting board. With a sharp knife, cut each slice into strips approximately 1 inch wide. You should have enough to match the number of melon pieces.

Assemble the Skewers: Take a wooden skewer and start threading your ingredients. Begin with a piece of melon, followed by a fresh basil leaf, then place a strip of prosciutto. Repeat the process until you've filled the skewer, leaving a little space at both ends for easier handling. Aim for three or four pieces of melon per skewer for a balanced bite.

Drizzle with Balsamic Glaze: Once all skewers are assembled, neatly arrange them on a serving platter. Drizzle the balsamic glaze generously over the skewers, and season with a pinch of salt and freshly cracked black pepper to elevate the flavors.

Serve Immediately or Chill: These skewers can be enjoyed immediately or, for a refreshing twist, refrigerate them for about 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
