Ingredients

4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

4 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 teaspoons)

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, grated ginger, black pepper, and salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken thighs into a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow glass dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish tightly, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. For the best flavor, marinate overnight.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the chicken is marinating, allowing the flavors to develop.

Arrange the Chicken: After marinating, remove the chicken thighs from the marinade. Set aside the remaining marinade for later use. Arrange the chicken thighs skin-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil for an easier cleanup.

Bake the Chicken: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the chicken thighs for about 30 minutes, until they begin to cook through.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small saucepan, pour the reserved marinade. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and let it cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reduces slightly and thickens.

Glaze the Chicken: After the initial 30 minutes of baking, take the chicken out of the oven. Brush the thickened marinade generously over the chicken thighs. Return the chicken to the oven and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the skin is crispy and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the top for garnish. Serve hot, drizzled with any remaining sauce for an extra flavor boost.
