2 large eggs, at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup buttermilk (or regular milk)

1 cup fig jam (you can use either homemade or store-bought)

½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional for added crunch)

1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for topping)
