Ingredients

2 large dill pickles

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon dried dill weed

1 large egg

¼ cup buttermilk (or milk of your choice)

1 cup panko bread crumbs

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Sea salt, to taste

Instructions

Preheat the Air Fryer: Begin by preheating your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for approximately 5 minutes. This helps achieve the perfect crunch on your pickle chips.

Prep the Dill Pickles: Carefully slice the dill pickles into thin chips, aiming for about ¼-inch thickness. Use paper towels to pat them dry on both sides, effectively removing excess moisture which allows for a crispier texture when cooked.

Prepare the Breading Station: Set up your breading process by arranging three bowls:

        - In the first bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and dried dill weed.

          - In the second bowl, whisk the large egg and buttermilk together until they are well combined.

            - In the third bowl, pour in the panko bread crumbs.

              Bread the Pickles:

                - Take each pickle slice and begin by dredging it into the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Gently shake off any excess flour.

                  - Next, dip the floured pickle slice into the egg mixture, letting any excess liquid drain off.

                    - Finally, coat the pickle slice with the panko bread crumbs, pressing lightly to make sure the crumbs stick well to the surface.

                      Air Fry the Chips:

                        - Lightly spray the air fryer basket with the cooking spray to prevent sticking.

                          - Arrange the breaded pickle chips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Be careful not to overcrowd the basket, as this can hinder their crispiness.

                            - Give the tops of the chips a light spray with olive oil spray to promote browning.

                              Cooking:

                                - Air fry the pickle chips for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. They should emerge golden brown and crunchy.

                                  - As soon as they come out of the air fryer, sprinkle sea salt to taste while they are still hot for the best flavor.

Serve: Carefully remove the crispy dill pickle air chips from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly on a plate. Serve them warm on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce for an extra flavor boost!
