Ingredients

1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

Optional: Pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick

Optional: Fresh herbs (like parsley or thyme) for a lovely garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Air Fryer: Begin by preheating your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. This ensures that the chickpeas will start cooking immediately upon being placed in the basket, contributing to their crispiness.

Prepare the Chickpeas: After draining and rinsing the chickpeas, take a paper towel and pat them dry thoroughly. Removing excess moisture is key to achieving a delightful crunch.

Season the Chickpeas: In a spacious mixing bowl, introduce the dry chickpeas followed by the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Toss everything together well until the chickpeas are thoroughly coated in the seasoning mix, ensuring an even flavor.

Air Frying the Chickpeas: Carefully place the seasoned chickpeas into the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, making sure to shake the basket halfway through the cooking time. Keep a close eye on them after the 10-minute mark to prevent burning; they should emerge golden brown and irresistibly crispy.

Cool and Serve: Once cooked, transfer the chickpeas from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. This step helps them crisp up even further. Serve them in a bowl, garnishing with fresh herbs for a bright and flavorful touch.

Storing Leftovers: If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. To rejuvenate their crunch, simply re-crisp them in the air fryer for about 5 minutes.
