Instructions

Marinate the Chicken:

    - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined. Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are completely submerged. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour, or up to overnight to enhance the flavor.

      Preheat the Oven:

        - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to facilitate easy cleanup after baking.

          Prepare the Coating:

            - In a shallow dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs, all-purpose flour, dried oregano, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of the spices.

              Coat the Chicken:

                - Take the marinated chicken out of the buttermilk, allowing any excess liquid to drip off. Dredge each chicken breast in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure a thick, even coating adheres to each piece. Place the coated chicken on the prepared baking sheet.

                  Bake the Chicken:

                    - Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). If you’d like to add cheese, place a slice of cheddar on each chicken breast during the last 5 minutes of baking to achieve a wonderful melty top.

                      Assemble the Sandwiches:

                        - While the chicken is baking, lightly toast the burger buns in a skillet or oven until they are golden and crisp. Spread a layer of mayonnaise or your favorite sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a crispy chicken breast, a slice of tomato, and a hearty handful of shredded lettuce. Close the sandwich with the top half of the bun.

                          Serve:

                            - Serve the sandwiches warm, alongside your preferred sides, such as crispy fries or a fresh garden salad for a perfect meal.
