Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast

1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup warm milk (approximately 110°F/43°C)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Filling:

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground cardamom

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, instant yeast, ground cardamom, and ground cinnamon. Mix thoroughly to ensure all dry ingredients are well blended.

      Mix Wet Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs until the mixture is smooth and fully incorporated.

          Combine and Knead:

Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until a soft dough forms. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

              Prepare the Filling:

In a small bowl, combine the packed brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground cardamom. Mix well and set aside for later use.

                  Roll Out the Dough:

After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release the air. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and roll the dough out into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick.

                      Add the Filling:

Evenly spread the softened butter across the surface of the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar-cardamom mixture generously on top of the butter.

                          Form the Rolls:

Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams together to seal the roll. Using a sharp knife or dental floss, slice the log into 12 equal rolls for even baking.

                              Second Rise:

Arrange the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish (or in two round cake pans), ensuring they are placed close together, almost touching. Cover the dish with a towel and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy and nearly doubled in size.

                                  Bake:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have finished their second rise, bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

                                      Prepare the Glaze:

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until you achieve a smooth, drizzle-able glaze.

                                          Glaze the Rolls:

After removing the rolls from the oven, let them cool for about 5 minutes. Then, drizzle the prepared glaze over the warm rolls to enhance their sweetness and shine.

                                              Prep Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes | Servings: 12
